We were honored to present our regional work on climate change education and heritage resilience at the 45th International Association for Danube Research (IAD) Conference, held in Sofia from 9–12 April 2025.

Our presentation, titled "Advancing Climate Change Education for Heritage Resilience in Southeast Europe," shared findings from a multi-country study covering stakeholder mapping, curriculum analysis, and needs assessment across UNESCO-designated sites.

The session highlighted:
The development and launch of the ClimateIQ.org digital platform—a regional hub for open-access educational resources.
Country-level insights from North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania.
Educational gaps and the need for experiential, site-specific, and multilingual climate education content.
The importance of transboundary learning and integration of cultural and ecological heritage in formal and informal curricula.
Special attention was given to case studies from Lake Ohrid, Butrint, Meteora, Mount Athos, the Danube Delta, and Srebarna, all facing different forms of climate stress and educational disconnection.
Our team extends sincere thanks to the IAD community and UNESCO for the opportunity to showcase this collaborative effort. We look forward to continued partnerships that bring climate literacy closer to the communities that safeguard our shared heritage.
